I am going to now talk about my experiences at the con, and it will be followed by a rant.
So I got absolutely no sleep Thursday night. I went to bed at like mdnight and was going to get up at 5 am. I finally feel asleep at 3:30 and woke up at 5:25. Yeah, I was mad. But I got my shower and got ready, and the last of my things ready. Maniac said he would be at my house by 7:15... 7:30 came, not Maniac. I sat and watched some Old School Power Rangers on Jetix. It was fun. 7:50 Maniac finally called and said he was on the way and he had over slept. Well, he finally picked me up and off we went.
Friday- We arrive and circle the hotel 3 times. I knew we were going to, happens every year and he doesn't do it on purpose. We finally parked next to a meter and went in to get our badges. I called my friend D, and asked her to meet me, but she never found me cause that place was a mess. Funny story: This cute girl that was like 3 inches taller than me is walking toward us when Maniac and I were in line for badges and I figured she was going to Maniac cause all the girls do, and he was smiling at her but she by-passed him without even a look and came straight to me and put her hands on my shoulder. I was all 0_0 and he was all !0_0! And she goes "You look like a smart guy." And I am all "Umm...." I was thinking she was about to hit on me, or something. Then she goes "I need you to make a new pivot point for everyone to follow. Thank you!" That's when I noticed her badge said security. See, the line was getting out of their marked bounds and I was at a point where I should have been the pivot... She left and Maniac and I were like ".....o_o...... BWAHAHAHA!!!"
Anyway, got our badges, got our room keys, got the car, pulled up to the building and had our stuff taken to the room... Off we went to have fun. I found a few CosPlayers that I liked, but there just weren't many that really wowed me. I kept trying to find D, but something would come up and we'd miss or pass each other. Was looking like the year before which was making me emo, but it couldn't be helped.
Not much else I can say about Friday. Nothing went on, and I was bored most of it. I did go up and down two sets of escalators for an hour and half straight to see how long it would take for one of the security watching the escalators to say something. They never did, just gave me looks. So I gave up. Oh and at one point Maniac and I were in an Elevator and this Asian guy steps in wearing ONLY a sparkly gold thong and a little gold pirate hat he made and holding a pirate sword. He stood infront of the doors so when they opened people would see him with 0_0 looks and not get on the elevator. It ruled.
I finally went to bed at like 3am, but never went to sleep. Several people woke up about then and we all chit chated for hours, which was nice. Soon the sun appeared though.
Saturday- And then it was Saturday. 6am and no sleep, so I take a shower and start getting into my Jet Set Radio costume. I get my pants and shirt on, and my hoodie. But I took the hoodie off cause it was hot and I still had to wait for everyone else to get a shower and get in costume. Well, this guy named Fox kept stepping over me every few seconds cause my sleep area was on the floor, so I move lengthwise so he doesn't have to step over me. That was the last thing I remember till 11am when Chopstick was trying to wake me up.
Off we went to CosPlay. A few minutes after we left our room, D calls and says that her and her friend just got up and wanted to know if I wanted her to come find me and I said yes. We walked around for a while then it was time for our photoshoot on the third floor, so I called D to let her know we would be there. Up we went and met 2 more people in our group and took pictures.
We decided to head down and as soon as we got to the second floor we were mobbed. Picture after pictures. I tried to check my voice mail but every time I tried more pictures. D called and said she was on her way and I told her where we were. More pictures and I try to check the voice mail again. There are several pictures of me on a cell phone now, which is funny. D found me though and from then on I hung out with her and that was a blast.
At one point I saw a friend of my walking by so I got up to hug her and she goes "Are you drunk?" It was funny, and I wasn't. Then USAGI YOJIMBO walked by! I was like "WHERE ARE YOU GOING?!" and threw open my arms. I have never asked a random cosplayer for a hug before, but I had to for this. Greatness.
Sunday- Nothing. We got up, got our stuff in the car, and went back so I could buy Birthday presents. I then found the most awesome thing. I HATE Evangelion but there were recently 5 figures made in limited edition, where this artist took 5 of the angels and turned them into girls with wings. Very cute. I had seen ONE on Saturday but it was the only one I didn't like and it was $40. Well, normal price and import fees, that's about right. But Sunday! I saw a dealer that had several of ALL of them for $24!!!! I so got one. Anyway, I called D to let her know we were heading out, so I went to find her and got 2 last hugs. 'Twas nice. I was rather sad to be walking away from her, cause there is no telling when I will get to see her again. I also liked her friend and would like to get to hang out with her again too one day.
Drive home time... We stopped at an anime store and I got these awesome Japanese candies! Nummy. Then we went to a pizza place.... I nearly passed out in the pizza I was so sleep deprived. 2 hours Friday, 3 Sat amnd 3 that morning. Anyway, I got in Maniac's car before we left again and changed into light clothes. That was interesting to do. No one saw me though. off we went and I actually stayed up the whole way home. And that was the end of my adventure.
Rant- This A-Kon sucked. I swear the people who plan it stopped caring and went lazy. There were only 2 arcade games shoved into a hidden corner. The dealers sold mostly only Bleach, Naruto, and FMA stuff. Pissed us all off. We wanted more variety, and that's really all any of the dealers cared about selling this year. Way whack. I didn't care about seeing any of the concerts, which is sad cause I always watch...
Skits sucked balls this year. One or 2 were kinda of cute/good. The other 28ish SUCKED HARD CORE!!!! But the walk-ons were good. Anyway, the skits sucked so bad that the top most award went to a walk-on. Not unheard of, but rare. God, I don't even WANT to go into all those skits. They made me so mad and irritated. Gosh dang... Anyway, the whole con pretty much lacked. They only fun I really had was getting hang out with D and her friend. If not for that I would have wished I hadn't gone.
